Master of Science in Probability and Statistics

Maestría en Ciencias con especialidad en probabilidad y Estadística (in Spanish)

CIMAT’s Master of Science program in Probability and Statistics provides its students with a high level of training in this field, giving them solid basic skills and the ability to transfer that knowledge, to use computational tools and to conduct research in both theoretical and applied areas of probability, stochastic processes and statistics.

The program trains graduates to become highly capable professionals with a capacity to understand, formulate and address a wide range of scientific problems, basic or applied, using probabilistic and statistical methods and working with multidisciplinary teams. Program graduates can also pursue a teaching career or continue on to doctoral programs.

After completing basic courses during the first year, each student selects an area of specialization, which includes three elective courses that must be taken in the third semester and a fourth elective course to be taken in the last semester. The areas of specialization are:

  • Stochastic Processes
  • Statistical Inference
  • Statistics in the Natural Sciences
  • Finance and Risk Theory
  • Industrial Statistics
  • Computational Statistics

To learn more about each of these areas, download the pdf file (in Spanish).
