Titulo: Continuum Limits of Integrable Lattice Equations for Graphical Enumeration
Ponente: Virgil U. Pierce, UT - Pan American, EUA
Lugar: Salón Diego Bricio Hernández
Hora: 11:00 hrs.
Resumen: The partition function of the unitary ensembles of random matrices is an iterated integral over the eigenvalues of those matrices.
The asymptotic expansion of this function as the size of the matrices becomes large gives an enumeration of ribbon graphs partitioned by their genus.  The iterated integral can also be viewed as the solution to a hierarchy of differential equations called the Toda lattice hierarchy.  The Toda lattice is a classical example of a nonlinear integrable system of ordinary differential equations.  From this point of view the asymptotic expansion is leading to a continuum limit of the Toda lattice equation in which the system of ODEs becomes a hierarchy of partial differential equations.  We will show that in certain cases the solutions of this system may be integrated exactly and an explicit expression for the generating function of the graphical enumeration may be given for each genus.  In the process we will show that there is an important connection between this enumeration problem and the Higher Catalan numbers. This is joint work with Nicholas Ercolani and Kenneth McLaughlin.

Seminario de Probabilidad
Miércoles 14

Titulo: Tiempos Locales de Semimartingalas y Valores Principales Relacionados con los Tiempos Locales del M.B.
Ponente: Juan Ruiz de Chávez, UAM-Iztapalapa
Lugar: Salón Diego Bricio Hernández
Hora: 13:00 hrs.
Resumen: Se van a definir los tiempos locales para semimartingalas continuas y a ver algunas de sus propiedades básicas para luego presentar valores principales asociados a los tiempos locales del movimiento browniano.
