Programas docentes (Spanish)

At CIMAT you can pursue a bachelor's, a master's or a doctoral degree in a highly competitive scientific research environment working with an academic faculty which is nationally and internationally renowned.

Through an agreement with the University of Guanajuato, we offer bachelor’s degrees in:

  • Mathematics
  • Computer Science

CIMAT offers a special study abroad program for undergraduate students, the Mathematical Sciences Semesters in Guanajuato (MSSG), open to students with a strong grounding in Mathematics who want to increase their knowledge of data science, modeling and partial differential equations from a comprehensive, forward-looking, and cutting-edge perspective while acquiring a solid theoretical foundation, as well as exploring the rich culture of Mexico and learning Spanish as they go in the beautiful city of Guanajuato, one of Mexico’s most fascinating tourist destinations.

The program offers:

CIMAT’s own master’s degree programs are:

CIMAT also offers a Doctor of Science degree, with the following specializations:

What is the academic environment like at CIMAT?

CIMAT provides the infrastructure to support research for its students. Graduate students work in cubicles with computers and internet access. All students have access to computer labs specially equipped for assignments and research projects in the areas of mathematics, computer science and probability and statistics.

The services and resources of the CIMAT’s library, which is the best library of its kind outside of Mexico City, are accessible to all students. The collection of books and magazines is complemented by access to electronic journals, scientific databases and interlibrary loans from the most important institutions in Mexico.

What is student life like at CIMAT?

CIMAT Students are immersed in an atmosphere of cultural and scientific diversity, which are the hallmarks of the centre.

The countries of origin of our students are many: Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, Kenya and Spain, among others.

The Academic Coordinator provides guidance to foreign students for immigration formalities at the National Institute of Migration. Additionally, the coordinator can answer questions regarding the various academic exchange programs with institutions of science and technology, such as CONACYT, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) and CONCYTEG, to name a few.

Olympiads and other scientific competitions

To enhance the development of young scientific talent, CIMAT organizes various mathematical and computational competitions with the participation of its undergraduate and graduate students (see a few examples in the Events section).

Academic Events

Over the years CIMAT has enhanced its academic environment through the organization of seminars for students and researchers, and of international conferences, workshops and research schools,

Science Outreach

As part of its objectives, the CIMAT works to increase the skills, understanding and interest in the work of mathematics among the general public. Our students participate in these activities and contribute to their communities while enriching their own learning experience.

These activities include the organization of scientific workshops for middle and high school students in addition to lectures and workshops open to the general public. For more information, please see our Science Outreach section.

For graduate program regulations, see their guidelines here (in Spanish)
