Seminario de Geometría diferencial y sistemas dinámicos Fecha y lugar: Lunes, 30 sept, 2019, 4:00pm, Salón Diego Bricio Título: Collision orbits of the 3-body problem with strong force via the Jacobi-Maupertuis principle - Part 2 (of 2) Por: Connor Jackman, CIMAT Abstract: The three body problem under an inverse cube force, at appropriate energy and angular momentum level, can be reduced, via the Jacobi-Maupertuis principle, to non-positively curved geodesic flow on a ''pair of pants'' (a 2 sphere minus 3 holes). Montgomery used this non-positive curvature to describe the periodic geodesics. In this talk, we will show how methods from hyperbolic geometry can be used to describe the geodesics tending to collisions on this pair of pants as well.
