Dra. Graciela María de los Dolores González Farías

Graciela is an Emeritus Researcher of the National System of Researchers (SNII). She studied a bachelor’s degree in mathematics at UANL, a Master's degree in Statistics at COLPOS, and a PhD in Statistics at North Carolina State University. She is interested in both research and applications of Mathematics and Statistics, with a significant impact on research in Statistics and in multidisciplinary work, directing multiple projects and undergraduate, master's, and doctoral theses, both at CIMAT and at other institutions, in addition to directing several postdocs. In research, the main areas of her work focus on the topics of Statistical Inference and Modeling, with an emphasis on Multivariate Analysis, Time Series, Spatial Statistics, and Nonlinear Models; in particular, on applications and problems that arise specifically in Econometrics, Biostatistics, and Scientific Replicability. On the other hand, she has worked on various multidisciplinary problems, both national and international, in which she has responded to problems with social and economic relevance. To mention some of the most recent, she collaborated to model the problem of Dengue in Tapachula, Chiapas, collaborated in a study to understand the resistance to Insulin in the Mexican population and was part of the CONAHCYT group against COVID-19. Among her participations in associations, the following stand out: the Presidency of the AME (Mexican Statistical Association), Founding Member of the ISBIS and elected member of the ISI since 2005. She has received various distinctions during her academic career, both national and international. She has organized and participated in many international and national seminars and conferences, short courses and academic visits. In this regard, Graciela has carried out at least 35 research stays, the vast majority international, highlighting a strong collaboration with research groups in Spain. Also noteworthy are visits to Germany (Max Plank in Experimental Economics), the USA, Canada, Chile and Colombia. Highlighting a strong collaboration with research groups in Spain. She participates in the transfer of science supporting gender and non-discrimination policies to diverse audiences and has dedicated much of her work to the training of young scientists in Mexico and many other Latin American countries. She has also participated in more than 100 national and international seminars, events and conferences, either as an organizer, member of discussion panels or giving talks. This includes several keynote talks, conferences, seminars, panels, workshops and invited talks.
